If I were to distill 25 years of experience into a single answer to the question "What determines whether a hire succeeds?" – the answer would be: the process.
Not gut feeling. Not the candidate's LinkedIn profile. Not how well the interview felt.
The process.
What I have seen work in practice, time and again, is a combination of three things.
A clear requirements profile – not a wish list, but a considered analysis of what the role actually demands in order to deliver results in this particular organization.
A structured assessment – competency-based interviews, relevant personality tools, and clear criteria that everyone involved in the process works from.
A mature decision – where you have the courage to say no to "good enough" and wait for the right person, rather than filling the seat because the pressure to decide has become too great.
It sounds straightforward. In practice, it rarely is – especially when there is time pressure, the hiring manager is impatient, and three other things are competing for your attention.
That is precisely where I come in.
If you have thoughts, questions, or simply want to talk something through – feel free to get in touch.
